An array of essentially blank canvases floated down the runway at Bottega Veneta's Spring 2010 runway show. the line consisted mainly of white garments accented by dramatic yellow, purple, blue, and turquoise accessories. "The clothes are meant to be a backdrop, a blank canvas, so the wearer can play with color and accessories to change the look and make it her own.", said Thomas Maier.
Bottega's structured collars and hot shoulders were dramatic, and an element that made these bright white ensembles interesting.
the line was inspired by the uniforms worn by karate students. Maier said that he,"... liked the look of the canvas, and that became my color card—white, cream, straw. And the idea of the soft belt."
